Sourdough bread has made a comeback, and for good reason. It's packed with nutrients, healthy carbs, protein, fibre, iron and vitamins. It can improve digestion, lower chronic disease risk and even promote healthy aging. Like many people, Daryl started making sour dough bread in lockdown. Daryl supplies the shop each Wednesday with his sourdough. This bread is delicious with European cheeses, salami, anti-pasta, fig paste and eggs. As it uses a natural culture, it is much better for the digestive system and a useful option for those with blood sugar management issues.

Jenny has been a contributor of handmade items to the Purple Starfish for many years. She has plants for the garden, handmade cards, baby rugs and quilts in the shop for sale. Jenny’s journey into the arts began when she started making clothes for her children. She attended her first quilting class in 1999 and was hooked! She went on to make many quilts for her family and then grandchildren. Around the same time Jenny attended classes for scrapbooking which then turned into a passion for card making. Jenny enjoys knowing that when someone comes into the Purple Starfish to buy an item, the act of giving and receiving something handmade is gratifying.
